The Aviation Life Support Equipment handbook requires a magnesium firestarter in aircraft survival kits, in addition to regular ignition tools like matches or ferro rods. The RAT Match, designed by Randall's Adventure and Training and produced by ESEE Knives, is half magnesium bar and half ferrocerium rod. To use it, you simply scrape some shavings from the magnesium side, and strike sparkes from the ferro rod to ignite them.
Ferrocerium fire starting ignition and Magnesium tinder source in one tool.
Compact 9/32 in. diameter and 3 in. length mean the RAT Match stows easily in pockets, Altoids tins, ferro rod loops, and more.
Predrilled hole allows you to quickly attach your lanyard of choice.
