Edible and Poisonous Plants of the Eastern States

This deck of plant identification cards includes some of the more important edible and poisonous plants of the East. The majority of the edible plants illustrated have been selected because of their wide distribution and availability. Most of them are found throughout the United States and Canada and many are distributed throughout the world. Generally, plants which require elaborate preparation to make them palatable have not been included, nor have those which might be easily confused with harmful species. An attempt has been made to make the descriptions as meaningful as possible with a minimum of technical terminology. Wherever practical, the illustrations show the parts of the plant which are edible and/or their outstanding identifying features.
